I keep my to-do list pretty simple. I have one main list for everything, then I pick 3 or 4 things that actually need to get done today.
I also keep a separate list for random ideas and low-priority stuff. That stops my daily list from becoming 30 items long.
One small thing that helps me: I don't write tasks like “work on project.” I write the next tiny action, like “open the file and fix the first section.” It makes starting much easier.
