What to Do to Stay Calm with Kids?

Staying calm with kids is easier when you stop trying to control every little thing. Kids will be loud, slow, messy, and sometimes unreasonable.

When you feel yourself getting angry, pause before answering. Take a few breaths, lower your voice, or step away for a minute if it is safe. One thing that helps more than people realize is keeping yourself fed and rested. Sometimes the child is not the real problem. You are simply exhausted.

Also, don’t make every small mistake a battle. Save your energy for things that actually matter. A calm parent does not mean a parent who never gets angry. It means you notice the anger before it controls you.
