Why Is Being on Time so Hard for People Today?

Being on time is often less about laziness and more about poor time estimates. People think, “It’s only a 20-minute trip,” and forget traffic, getting ready, finding things, or small delays.

Another problem is that phones make waiting feel uncomfortable, so people try to squeeze in “one last thing” before leaving.

I’ve found that aiming to arrive 10 minutes early works better than trying to arrive exactly on time.
